The 1920's Party

Saturday was SO much fun! It was J's 30th birthday and his lovely wife had planned a 1920's themed Murder Mystery party. Everyone had to dress up 1920's style and then we had to solve the crimes. One of the BEST birthday parties I've ever been to! Good job T!

I think I'm rubbing off on him. YES!

My hubby is not neat and clean. And that's saying it nicely (just ask my SIL who had the pleasure of living with his messy butt for a year). Love you honey but it simply is true. And I am. Of course. POLAR OPPOSITES. Seriously, my motto is "Everything in it's place and a place for everything" and his is "The middle of this hallway looks like a great place to drop my dirty clothes." GRRRRRRRRRRRR.

So imagine my surprise, excitement, and pure joy when I came home to find this:

That's right. He organized. And at no prodding from his Wifey. I seriously had nothing to do with this. He did it all on his own. I almost wet myself when I saw it. I mean the beauty of the folded pants and the organized shoes. HALLELUJAH! He's catching my crazy!
Oh and HERE is the other thing! It's been like this for ALMOST TWO WEEKS! I just swooned.

I must be rubbing off on him.

My husband is not a neat, clean person. He just isn't. Dare I say we are completely opposite in this area. Where I love nothing better than an hour spent organizing my junk, he would rather spend that hour making a bigger mess.

So IMAGINE my surprise to to come home to this:

I'm not sure anyone can understand my shock and amazement (well, maybe the Chicken AKA Hubby's sister, who had the pleasure of my Hubby residing with her for about a year.) when I saw this. It may not seem like much to you but TRUST ME, this is HUGE. Is it possible that my Hubby is becoming NEAT? Hallelujah, we may have had a breakthrough.

Just in case you were wondering. . .

There is not a DARN THING in Ukiah, CA. Zip, zero, zilch. A whole lot of nothing. And of course, that's where I'm at. The drive here, the drive through and the drive past is very pretty but pull into Ukiah itself and WOW. Nothin'.

It's one saving grace? It's in the middle of WINE COUNTRY!! YEA BABY!!

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

I have good news! Big, fat good news!! My little brother got engaged! To the most lovely, wonderful young lady. And we just love her. In fact we told Brother once that if he ever broke up with her we would BREAK UP with him. That's how much we love her. And this crazy-smart girl has decided to take a chance on this nosy, butting-in family and join us.So congratulations Brother and my soon to be Little Sister! Love you both so much and I am so excited!Oh and P.S. I'm a bridesmaid! YIPPEE!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again

I am seriously so in love with this movie. I could watch it over and over and over and over. . .well you get the point.

I just watched the ceremony and I watched the mother crying and I thought of this:

Aw, Momma, don't cry.
And then there is the moment with the Dad. Oh lord, help me.

The Last Lecture

A few weeks ago I saw this video. It moved me then. Randy Pausch is a professor that found out that he had Pancreatic cancer and was dying. He has three young children and the real purpose of this lecture was for his kids. The full lecture is about an hour long and really worth watching. It moved me to tears. How inspiring. I can only hope that I live my life as fully as this man has and is.

This version is about 10 minutes long and give you the jist of the lecture.

Swappy, swappy

On of my newest obsessions (I know, there are so many to keep up with) is Swap-Bot. Basically it a website you join that you can sign up for "swaps." There are MANY different types of swaps and it is so cool to come home and get something in mail! I heart the mail. I get that from my Momma.

Anywho. . .I signed up a few weeks ago for the Flirty Apron Swap. The rules were that you were to send a handmade "flirty" apron, two recipes and a kitchen do-dad, gadget or cutie that you thought your swap partner would like. I had great fun putting mine together for my swap partner (and I'm also the big dork that didn't take any pictures of it!). I didn't make my apron though because I'm just not that skilled. So I paid someone from Etsy to do it. I sent my partner a cute polka-dotted apron, two cupcake soaps and two cupcake recipes. See how nice I am? I push my love for stuff on others.

Today I got my swap package in the mail! Tracey sent me the most AMAZING package! She saw how much I loved cupcakes and made me a package with a bakery theme. It was SO cute! I was so excited to see it!

Jump on the Bandwagon

It's that time again! Time for me to go on and on and ON about something I love! So here we go. . .

Abobe Photoshop Express

I found out about this website through another blog. This site is KILLER. I, being the poor newlywed that I am, cannot afford to go out and spend the hundreds of dollars it cost to get Adobe PhotoShop. But this is the next best thing because it is FREE!! Photoshop Express has some really cool options and even has online photo storage. Check out what I was able to do.

Original

Popped the color and changed the hue

Original

Changed the hue of all the colors.

Original

Changed it to a Sketch.

Original

Changed the exposure, the saturation of color and put a soft focus on the whole thing.

I am really loving this new program! You have to check it out!
