37

Bring it 37.  I'm going to handle you like a boss.

36 was mostly not great but that's cool.  This next year is mine and it's going to be great.  So come on now.  Let's do this thing.

Rewind: The Boy's 1st Birthday

So I am MONTHS behind but you want to see this right?  Here we go!

Of course we did the theme in Dr. Suess.  It was fun and easy.  We had all the stuff from my baby shower and from the Boy's room to use.  Free is my favorite!  Isn't that wreath adorable?  You can make one too!

We had cupcakes and strawberries and cakeballs, oh my!  Of course there were ham sandwiches and green eggs too.  The Boy was a little overwhelmed by it all.

Isn't his shirt adorable?  Check out AlphaChic run by my good friend Shari!  She did such a cute job with this shirt and I loved it.

These were some of my favorite decorations.  I got them FOR FREE from The Giving Madam.  She is awesome enough to design these and GIVE THEM AWAY.  Like I said, I love free!

Look at how cute me and my boys are.  I love them.  They just make me so happy.  The Boy got himself a nice little nap before the party and woke up about 20 minutes before the fun began so he was in a great mood.  Which made mommy very happy!

At first my Boy wasn't so sure about all this cake stuff.  And then he tasted it and fell in love with sugar.  He.  Was.  Covered.  Just as every one year old should be.

He got tons of fun gifts from his friends and family but by far the winners were the recliner from Nina and Papi.  How stinkin' cute is that chair?

All in all such a great day.  We had so much fun celebrating this first year.  We all made it!  Check out the slideshow for more pictures!

Cake Drunk

Well this happened over the weekend.

First chocolate, first cake, first frosting.  It took him over an hour after his regular bedtime to finally fall asleep.  I'm beat, but he had a blast.

33

Today's the day. The big 33. I love my 30's. By far my best years ever. The last half of my 20's just sucked so never was I so happy for a birthday than I was for my 30th. I got married when I was 31. Pregnant when I was 32 and I'll have my little munchkin in my arms before my 33rd year is over. Life is good.

It's easy to get bogged down in the daily grind of life and the little annoyances but seriously I have so much to be thankful for. I have my health and the health of my baby. I have a husband who continually surprises me with his giving and caring. I have a family that loves and supports me and rallies around me. I have friends that are loyal and on my side. I have a roof over my head and food to eat. I have a car that gets me to a job that pays my bills. I have a JOB. This year I feel so grateful for all I have and even some of what I don't. Life can always be made easier but sometimes going over the hill is the experience you need.

Thank you all for your well wishes today. You have truly brightened my day and made me feel loved and appreciated. Each and everyone of you. And there is no better gift than that.

Chicken

Today is my sister-in-love's birthday. And even though she doesn't want to talk about it I just want to tell you a few things about her. So this is NOT a birthday post. This is Get To Know The Chicken post.

From the moment I met the Chicken she was warm and welcoming and just about the sweetest person I had ever met. She fiercely loves her family and will go to any lengths to defend them. I have seen her sacrifice of herself to make sure her son gets on the right path. If the Chicken loves you, you know it. She will be the first person to compliment you and brighten your day. You just FEEL better about yourself being with her. One of my favorite things about her is how much she loves my hubby. She is always so happy to see him and hang out with him. She is always telling you how much she loves you too. Which sometimes you just need to hear and you can count on her for that. She has this great laugh too. When she really gets to laughing. It makes me giggle just thinking about it.

The best summer that I can recall was the summer of 2007. Chicken and I spent the entire summer just hanging out by the pool. We had some BBQ's, went to some concerts but spent most of the time in the backyard in our bathing suits, listening to Katharine McPhee and reading magazine's. I loved that time I had with her.

So Chicken, I want you to know that I love you. You're smart, beautiful and downright awesome. I could not have been blessed with a better sister. Here's to artichokes!

Happy 30th Baby Girl

Today is my baby sister's 30th birthday. I can't believe she is 30! Heck, I can't believe I'm 32!
We celebrated her birthday over the weekend. We planned a surprise getaway with my mom and me and our cousins and aunts. We had such a fabulous time and great memories were made. There was a recurring theme throughout the weekend about my sister. We all just wanted her to take care of herself.
My sister is the best mom I know. Seriously. She is that mom that has games in the middle of the day at home just because it's fun. She bakes cookies with the girls takes care of her husband. She is the first one up and the last one to go to bed. And that's just her immediate family. When it comes to the rest of us, it's the same story. If you need something, call Nicole. If you need someone, call Nicole. She is always there. And along the way she wears herself out and we take her for granted.
So this past weekend we heaped love upon her. It was our turn to shower her with attention and affection. It was her turn to take a break and rest and revel in the love. I hope she took it all in and stored it away in her heart for when she needs it.

Happy birthday Coley. You are the best mom, most loving wife, kindest daughter, loyal sister, and best friend a girl could have. I hope I can be just like you when I grow up. Love you.

This is a video of our weekend. It's long so I won't be offended if you don't make it all the way through. :-)

Happy Birthday Hubby

On Saturday we celebrated the Hubs 38th birthday. Geez he's old. His birthday was actually LAST Saturday, the 3rd, but as you well remember we were moving. So some of our family got together at our little casa and we hosted our first dinner party/birthday party. You can see from the pictures how TERRIBLE the light in our new place is. More to come on the new place soon!

My sister whipping up the Birthday Boy's requested dessert on my teeny tiny counters.

All dressed up and no one to save.

The spread.

See my little niece hiding back there? She's about to comb her dad's hair with the dog brush.

Thanks to everyone that came. We both had a great time!

The Strongest Woman I Know

Today is my momma's birthday. She is the strongest, most beautiful woman I know. She is the backbone of our family and the type of woman that I someday hope I can be. She has faced her life with so much grace and dignity that at times it amazes me.

Thank you momma for always being my cheerleader. I wouldn't be where I am in life without you. You have been my cheerleader, my teacher, my friend. You have pushed me when you knew I could do better. You never let me say quit. You taught me independience. You showed me that there was nothing beyond my grasp if I wanted it. You've let me fall and been there when I needed you to pick me up. You are the wife and mother I someday hope I can be. I love you so much.

Happy birthday Momma.

Butterbean Turn's 5

YES. FIVE. I'm going to die. I'm a 1000 years old. My niece is turning FIVE. SOB.

On Saturday, my fabulous sister, being the fabulous mom that she is threw a cowgirl party for my little niece. Complete with a petting zoo and ponies. YES. PONIES. She wins the mom award.

I thought Gracie was going to DIE of pure joy. She loves animals, she loves cowgirls and now that she is in school loves all her little friends. Throw in some candy, cake and presents and boy howdy she is happy for a month.

Each kid got a cowboy hat and their face painted. And the little favors were all wrapped up in hanky's. So cute! All the kids just about lost their mind when the animals showed up. And the pig was hilarious. Squeeled like it was being led to the slaughter. All in all a really fun day.

Happy Birthday Butterbean. Tia loves you so much and can't believe you are already 5.
